SC Kriens and MVM - An Interview

SC Kriens is going into its third season with its main sponsor «MVM». Sascha Ziswiler has been heading the company from Emmen for five years. In the interview he talks about his view of the club and the initial skepticism of his employees.

Why did MVM join the SCK three years ago as the main sponsor?

I found the project brave. The new stadium and the idea of ​​joining the Challenge League as amateurs «THIS SIMPLE, UNCOMPLICATED THAT IMPRESSES ME» We are entering the third season with our main sponsor «MVM». Sascha Ziswiler has been heading the company from Emmen for five years. In the interview he talks about his view of the club and the initial skepticism of his employees. If I compare, GC has 13 million, Lausanne maybe 12 and then SC Kriens comes with a budget of around 1,5 million francs and can hold its own against such clubs, that's sensational. This is the world of football as I know it. It's nice to see that you drive a slightly different line in the small field - and you have success with it.

What do you mean by «another line runs»?

There is so much football going on right now, football anytime, anywhere. I am rather skeptical about this increasing growth and the enormous flow of money in football. But I also see this development as an opportunity for clubs like SC Kriens, where football is still close to the people, the players are tangible and you can see committed and passionate football. I think it needs more authenticity again than in the small field - more amateurs than Champions League, if you will.

What is the SCK for you?

The people in the small field, the people behind the club. I give an example. When visiting the stadium on the occasion of the opening ceremony, I stood in the shower in the cloakroom and saw the many shower heads. "But that gives a lot of lime," I said, and then someone who has been a volunteer at the SCK for years replied: "We'll round up a few people and clean the lime off." For me a great example of how a togetherness is created at SC Kriens. This simple, uncomplicated thing impresses me.

When MVM joined the SCK as the main sponsor, the club played in the Promotion League. How do you assess the development of the club?

As I said, it takes courage and conviction to be or become like SC Kriens. The club is doing a lot right at the moment, I think I can say that. Otherwise such a development would not even be possible at various club levels. I hope that the SCK will now continue on this path, remain courageous and withstand the increasing pressure of success and perhaps also the pressure of expectations.

How do the MVM employees react to the commitment at SCK?

At first they were rather critical, I have to admit that. We have a lot of football fans in the company and many are more closely related to the FCL. So I had to “sell” this commitment from us at SCK a bit, after all, it's about a lot of money. But our employees quickly recognized the point of this support.

What did you tell them

What I said before. Great project, brave and different. And SC Kriens not only includes the first team, which you may not see at first, but also the sustainable junior department, the great social commitment of the club, that is something very useful.

Has the skepticism now gone?

Yes, our employees quickly took pleasure in sponsoring when they saw our logo in the media or on the match posters - and then maybe they even got a little bit of pride. You see MVM a lot. For us, I say this frankly, it is also important to be the main sponsor again. We have benefited from this cooperation so far and have been able to increase our level of awareness.
